retreatment by lifting the original laser in situ keratomileusis flap after eleven years

چکیده
purpose : to describe a case of successful laser in situ keratomileusis (lasik) retreatment over a previous lasik surgery after 11 years case report : the patient had his first lasik for the correction of -2.25 -1.75×90° and -2.25 -1.00×90° in the right and left eye, respectively. eleven years later, the refraction in the right eye was plano -3.25×80° and he was scheduled for an enhancement procedure by relifting the old lasik flap. ablation was made with the allegretto concerto excimer laser. results : three months postoperatively, the right eye uncorrected visual acuity (ucva) was 20/20, the refraction was plano -0.50×160°, the flap was intact, and the cornea was clear. one year after retreatment the refraction was stable and there was no sign of epithelial ingrowth. conclusion : lasik retreatment can be safely performed by lifting the original flap even more than one decade after primary operation provided that the residual stromal bed is adequate. iranian journal of ophthalmology 201123(2):60-64 © 2011 by the iranian society of ophthalmology

Flap tearing during lift-flap laser in situ keratomileusis retreatment.
A flap tear occurred during laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) retreatment using a flap-lifting technique in 1 eye of 2 patients 4 to 5 months after the primary procedure. In the first case, the tear occurred in a decentered, standard thickness flap (168 mum) in a location close to the corneal limbus and limbal vessels. In the second case, the tear occurred in a well-centered thin flap (116 m...
متن کاملTraumatic corneal flap displacement after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK)
BACKGROUND Laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) is the most common and popular procedure performed for the correction of refractive errors in the last two decades. We report a case of traumatic flap displacement with flap folding which occurred 3 years after LASIK was performed. Previous literature suggests that vision prognosis would be closely related to proper and prompt management of trauma...

PURPOSE To evaluate the visual and refractive results of laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) retreatment on eyes with residual myopia with or without astigmatism. METHODS LASIK retreatment was performed on 35 eyes of 23 patients for correction of residual myopia, with or without astigmatism, with a mean manifest spherical equivalent refraction of -2.17+/-0.82 D (range, -1.00 to -3.87 D) and ...
